Frisk, CH Dixiana's Everybody Dance Now, is our wonderful red merle girl that Donna Bernier and I co-own with Diane Saltzman (Dixiana aussies). Frisk arrived 3 years ago at the age of 8 weeks old. Donna waited a long time for an Australian Shepherd and Frisk quickly became her heart and soul dog. With her flawless movement, Frisk easily completed her Canadian championship and is now working towards her ASCA championship. Other areas they are training in are agility and rally. Frisk adores her two young charges, Donna's daughters Alexa and Mikaela. Alexa is keen to get into the Juniors ring with Frisk. Now that Jive is living with Donna, Frisk has another aussie to herd and watch over. Her nose was a bit out of joint the first couple of days, but she is now as enamoured of Jive as the rest of us are! They are half sisters, both having Rowdy as their dad.
In just four rally trials, Frisk and I finished her CKC Rally Novice title with a score of 93 and a High In Class! Thank you to Jan Leach, our esteemed judge at the Portage Dog Show, July 2 and 3, 2011, for this wonderful win and title. Jan's courses were fun and challenging (as witnessed by our not so stellar, not last and we passed, run July 2, for our 2nd leg). Our first trial was at the Kenora dog show June 19, under judge Michael Calhoun. Again, fun and challenging courses, and we picked up our first qualifying leg with a score of 90 and a 3rd place. Portage was only our second time out at a show, and our first day showed me that I had to rethink my approach with Frisk, at least until we have WAY more experience under our belt. However, that's what makes dog games so much fun. The team work, motivation, getting to know my dog -- that's what makes all our runs so worthwhile, whether we pass or not. Every time out is a learning experience for me, and a fun time for both of us. If we don't have that, then the titles count for nothing. Frisk is a fun dog to work with -- she is both willing and challenging! Her confidence in the ring is building as we both learn what to expect from one another. NEXT STOP - ASCA NATIONALS!
